This research aimed to investigate the effect of an educational program based on active learning and critical thinking on developing prep school pupils’ writing skills and motivation. It adopted the one-group pretest-posttest design. The participants were forty second-year prep pupils from Misr Future Governmental Distinctive Language School, El-Wayly Educational Directorate, Cairo. The program was conducted over 12 sessions during the first semester of the academic year 2024/2025. The program utilized two quantitative instruments:  pre- and post-writing tests and a writing motivation scale, and two qualitative materials: a scoring rubric and reflection-on-action sheets. Statistical analysis revealed significant improvements in the writing skills and their aspects (unity, coherence, grammar, vocabulary and expression, and punctuation) and their motivation towards writing, favoring the post-test results. The findings confirmed the program’s effect in enhancing the pupils’ writing skills and increasing their motivation to write when properly applied. Finally, the research concluded with recommendations for teachers, pupils, curriculum designers, supervisors, and parents and suggestions for future researchers.
