The study aims to find out the problems associated with Social
Adjustment of breast cancer patients at King Fahd Specialist
Hospital in Dammam, in order to identify the main problems
associated with social adjustment of the patients of breast cancer,
and identify the main social needs of breast cancer patients that
require the intervention of a social worker, and identify the
differences in marital adjustment of women with breast cancer,
according to the following variables: (Age, Educational Level,
Duration of Treatment, Profession), and identify the importance of
social support of breast cancer patients.
The study is one of descriptive studies, using social survey
sample method for a number of breast cancer patients at King Fahd
Specialist Hospital in Dammam Hospital, so the volume of the
sample that the application has already been made with reached
(121) cases, including (111) cases with which a questionnaire has
been applied, and (10) cases interviewed, it has been chosen
randomly in the simple way by using a questionnaire tool (prepared
by the researcher), related to the problems of social harmony of
breast cancer patients.
The study found a number of results trying to answer the
questions of the study, and in light of which a number of
recommendations that professionals could be guided by, and
interested people, and decision makers involved in the subject of
study.
Where the most important results, were that there is variation
in the approval of the members of the study on the axis of the nature
of problems associated with social adjustment of breast cancer
patients at King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Dammam, also the study
results found that there are statistically significant differences
between marital adjustment variables, namely: (problems associated
with social adjustment of breast cancer patients, social needs of
breast cancer patients, and social support of breast cancer patients).
The study results showed the existence of statistically
significant differences between marital adjustment variables,
namely: (problems associated with social adjustment of breast cancer
patients, social needs of breast cancer patients, and social support of
breast cancer patients), all of this for the women with early breast
cancer at King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Dammam, according to
age.
The study also found that there are statistically significant
differences between the two variables: (social needs of breast cancer
patients, and social support to patients with breast cancer), with the
marital adjustment of women with early breast cancer, and the
presence of statistically significant differences between marital
adjustment variables of women with early breast cancer, as well as
the presence of statistically significant differences between the two
variables: (problems associated with social adjustment of breast
cancer patients, and social needs of breast cancer patients), for the
marital adjustment of early breast cancer patients according to the
job.
The study results also showed that here are statistically
significant differences between the two variables: (social needs of
breast cancer patients, and social support to patients with breast
cancer), of the marital adjustment of women with early breast cancer
at King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Dammam, according to the
educational level.
The study results showed the existence of statistically significant
differences between marital adjustment variables of women with
early breast cancer in King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Dammam,
according to the duration of treatment.
The most important practical recommendations are
represented by the interest in programs that focus on social support
for cancer patients in order to achieve social adjustment for them,
and the importance of developing a ministerial plans for families
with a family member suffering from breast cancer, the most
important academic recommendations is that there is a need to study
the mechanisms to address the problem of breast cancer in the
Eastern Province in Kingdom Saudi Arabia, as well as there is a
need to develop a future vision for reducing the social impacts of the
of breast cancer problem in the Eastern Province - KSA.
